What we put in place before anyone goes up

The part of a roof clean that decides whether you are happy at the end of the day happens before any moss is touched. Sheeting, protection and where equipment is footed take the first part of most visits.

This page sets out what we actually do on arrival, because it is the bit companies rarely describe and customers care about most.

Set up, in order

Walk the property: we look at every elevation, note existing damage and photograph it so there is a clear record before we start.
Plan access and footing: ladders and equipment are footed on firm, level ground clear of drain covers, soft borders and glass below.
Sheet the fall zone: the ground beneath the working slope is covered so moss and debris land on protection rather than on your lawn, drive or patio.
Protect planting and features: shrubs, borders and delicate features near the work are covered or wetted down before treatment is applied nearby.
Cover drains and gullies: gullies are covered so debris does not disappear into a drain and cause a blockage you find later.

Glass, conservatories and outbuildings

Conservatory roofs, greenhouses and glazed extensions are the most common casualties on badly run jobs. Where one sits under a working slope, we plan the sequence so nothing is being cleared directly above unprotected glass.

Where a conservatory roof itself needs cleaning, it is treated as fragile by default, worked from proper access rather than from the roof itself.

Neighbours and shared boundaries

On semis, terraces and tight village lanes the working area often crosses a boundary or blocks a shared access. We speak to neighbours before setting up rather than after a complaint.

Vehicles are parked considerately and where lanes are narrow we carry equipment in rather than blocking the road with a van and trailer.

Clear-down before we leave

Debris is collected, bagged and taken away, sheeting is lifted carefully so nothing tips into borders, hard surfaces are washed off and drain covers are removed and checked.

We finish by walking the job with you where you are home, and by sending photographs where you are not, so you can see the work rather than take our word for it.

Questions we get asked

Will the moss end up all over my garden?

No. The fall zone is sheeted before clearing starts, and what comes down is collected, bagged and taken away as part of the job.

What about my conservatory?

Work is sequenced so nothing is cleared directly over unprotected glass, and conservatory roofs themselves are always treated as fragile.

Do I need to be home?

Not usually. We will need access to any side gates and an outside tap in some cases, and we send photographs when you are not there.

What happens to the waste?

It leaves with us. Nothing is tipped in borders, behind a shed or into your green bin without asking.
