- How will you protect planting, garden features and anything below the work area?
- Will you be walking directly on my roof, and if so, how?
Questions about the job itself
Ask how long the visit is expected to take, and what would extend that timescale — this helps you plan around the work and understand what factors could change the day. Ask what happens if bad weather affects the visit, and whether that changes the price or simply the timing.
It is also worth asking what the company would do if they found a problem beyond moss during the work — a cracked tile, a damaged gutter joint, or signs of a bigger structural issue — since a company that has a clear answer to this has clearly thought about it before.
Questions about aftercare and follow-up
Ask whether treatment is included and what to expect from the roof's appearance in the weeks after the visit, since some residual staining as treatment weathers off is normal and worth knowing about in advance rather than being surprised by it.
